Inter Miami announced on 27/3 that the "Leo Messi" stand will officially debut at the opening match of Nu Stadium, when Inter Miami hosts Austin FC on 4/4. The Florida team will use its new 26,700-seat stadium for the first time, replacing a smaller, older venue 50 km from downtown Miami.

The Messi stand is located on the east side of the stadium, encompassing sections 117 to 121 on the lower level and 217 to 223 on the upper level. This decision highlights the Argentine superstar's significant impact since joining the team in summer 2023.
In a statement, Inter Miami noted that honoring Messi acknowledges the special influence of the 38-year-old captain. "Typically, tributes belong to the past, associated with memories," the statement read. "But this time is different. It belongs to the present, to what you feel every time Leo steps onto the field."
Messi remains central to Inter Miami's plans. He extended his contract until the end of the 2028 season, continuing his leadership role both on and off the field. He has scored 82 goals and provided 53 assists in 94 matches, leading the club's history in both statistics.
Messi also led Inter Miami to three major titles in three years: the Leagues Cup 2023, Supporters’ Shield 2024, and MLS Cup 2025. In 2025, he additionally secured the top scorer and MVP awards, earning recognition as the league's best player for the second consecutive time.
In early 3/2026, Messi scored his 900th career goal, becoming the second male player in football history to reach this milestone, after Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Inter Miami recently faced early elimination from the CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 1/8.
Messi's arrival in 2023 marked a historical turning point for Inter Miami, the team co-owned by David Beckham. Founded in 2020, the club had made little impact previously. However, after just two seasons with Messi, they have become a real force in MLS, simultaneously elevating the league's global image.
Off the field, the club continues its ambition to strengthen the squad. Inter Miami is interested in midfielder Casemiro after he leaves Man Utd in summer 2026. If the transfer is successful, Beckham's team could add one more star alongside Messi, Luis Suarez, and Rodrigo De Paul.
Inter Miami is currently using Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, which is far from downtown Miami. In contrast, Nu Stadium is located in the city center, right next to Miami International Airport.
