Juventus secures thrilling victory over Inter

Juventus defeated Inter 4-3 in a dramatic Italy derby, featuring seven goals, including a stunning strike in second-half stoppage time, in round 3 of Serie A.

Goals: Kelly 14', Yildiz 38', K. Thuram 83', Adzic 91' - Calhanoglu 30', 65', M. Thuram 76'

The Thuram brothers both scored headers, one for each side. The other goals were also spectacular long-range efforts. The back-and-forth action at the Allianz Stadium was considered one of the most dramatic and exciting Italy derbies in recent years.

Before the match, Inter was under significant pressure after losing to Udinese at home in round two. Coach Cristian Chivu was forced to shuffle his lineup, giving a debut to center-back Manuel Akanji, a new signing from Man City.

Meanwhile, Juventus entered the match with perfect form, having won all their games without conceding a goal. In the Allianz stands, the attention was focused on former defender Lilian Thuram. He came to watch his two sons, Marcus (Inter) and Khephren (Juve), face off, and he wasn't disappointed. Both of Thuram’s sons scored, and his former club also secured three points.

Juventus opened the scoring in the 14th minute thanks to a volley from English defender Lloyd Kelly. Hakan Calhanoglu equalized with a long-range shot, but young talent Kenan Yildiz put the home side ahead again before the first half ended. Calhanoglu added another stunning long-range goal in the second half before Marcus Thuram gave Inter a 3-2 lead.

Marcus didn't celebrate his goal excessively, possibly out of respect for his father, Lilian, and younger brother, Khephren. However, when Khephren headed in the equalizer in the 83rd minute, he didn't hold back, celebrating wildly with his teammates. In the stands, Lilian smiled, witnessing his youngest son's goal.

The match was decided by 19-year-old Vasilije Adzic in stoppage time with a long-range shot from over 30 meters. The ball curled into the top corner, beyond the reach of goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Inter reacted furiously, claiming a foul by Khephren in the buildup, but VAR confirmed the goal was legitimate.

Juventus maintained their winning streak after three rounds, fueling hopes of winning the Scudetto for the first time since 2020. Conversely, Inter continued their decline with two consecutive losses. If they don't regain their composure, Chivu's team could soon be left behind in the title race with Juventus and Napoli.
