Bayern faced Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena on the evening of 8/2 under unusual pressure. For the first time under coach Vincent Kompany, they had failed to win two consecutive Bundesliga matches, having lost 1-2 to Augsburg and drawn 2-2 with Hamburg. In contrast, Hoffenheim arrived in Munich in top form, having won all five matches since the start of 2026, equaling the club's longest winning streak record.

However, Hoffenheim's psychological advantage quickly evaporated. In the 17th minute, center-back Kevin Akpoguma received a direct red card for pulling Luis Diaz's shirt inside the penalty area, leaving Hoffenheim a man down and conceding a penalty. From the spot, Harry Kane fired a powerful shot into the left corner. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, despite guessing correctly, could not save it.
Playing with one man down, Hoffenheim surprisingly found an equalizer in the 35th minute. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made a misplaced pass inside the penalty area, allowing Andrej Kramaric to capitalize and score from close range, leveling the score. This, however, was a rare bright spot for the visitors in the match.
In the 44th minute, Luis Diaz was fouled again by Vladimir Coufal inside the box, earning Bayern a second penalty. Harry Kane was once again entrusted with the responsibility and completed his brace with another decisive shot into the left corner. The English striker had previously scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, when Bayern defeated Hoffenheim 4-1 in the first half of the Bundesliga season in 9/2025.
In first-half stoppage time, Kane continued to make his mark with an assist for Diaz's goal, extending the lead to 3-1. In the second half, the Colombian striker scored two more goals to complete his first hat-trick for Bayern and sealed the 5-1 victory.

After the match, Kane admitted Bayern had been under considerable pressure after two consecutive games without a win. "There was a lot of noise around the team last week, so it was important for the whole team to stay calm," he said.
The 33-year-old striker emphasized that Bayern has a full squad with positive competition within the team. "We started the game very well. After the opponent received a red card, Bayern needed about 20 minutes to adapt. Hoffenheim is a quality team, but we punished their mistakes and deserved the win," he stated.
Meanwhile, Serge Gnabry affirmed that Bayern always aims to demonstrate its strength, regardless of the circumstances. "We always want to send a message. Dropping points is naturally disappointing, but the season always has its ups and downs. Bayern always aims for victory, and at this point, everything is still on track," the German striker shared.
The 5-1 victory solidified Bayern's top spot in the Bundesliga with 54 points, six points clear of Dortmund. On 11/2, Kane and his teammates will play at home again against RB Leipzig in the quarterfinals of the National Cup.
