On 17/9, Kane scored two goals in Bayern's 3-1 victory over Chelsea in their opening match of the 2025-2026 Champions League group stage.
With this performance, the 32-year-old striker achieved a total of 53 goal contributions in the competition, including 42 goals and 11 assists. This surpasses David Beckham's previous record of 52 (16 goals and 36 assists). Beckham, a former midfielder, played for renowned clubs such as Man Utd, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and PSG.

Kane also holds the record for most Champions League goals scored by an English player, with 42. Wayne Rooney is second with 30.
Kane's 42 goals are evenly split between Bayern and his former club, Tottenham. He is the third player to score 20 or more Champions League goals for two different clubs. The other two are Cristiano Ronaldo (105 goals for Real Madrid, 21 for Man Utd) and Neymar (22 for PSG, 21 for Barca).
In their last encounter eight years ago, Chelsea suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Bayern. In this latest match, "The Blues" showed some improvement but ultimately fell short. They started well, but their efforts were undone when Trevoh Chalobah scored an own goal in the 20th minute from a Michael Olise cross. Kane then added two more goals, one from a penalty he won himself in the 27th minute and a curled shot into the far corner in the 63rd minute. Chelsea managed to pull one back through Cole Palmer's strike in the 29th minute. Bayern could have won by a larger margin had they capitalized on all their chances.
"From start to finish, we played at a really high level," Kane said. "We moved the ball quickly when we had it and pressed intensely when we didn't. You could see that with the third goal. As I said, Chelsea are a strong team with excellent players, but ultimately, we deserved the win."
The victory on 17/9 extended Bayern's streak of winning their opening Champions League match to 22 consecutive seasons. They are also unbeaten in their last 35 Champions League group stage matches at home.
