While Kyrgios holds some respect for Roger Federer and Andy Murray, he has expressed disdain for both Novak Djokovic and Nadal. The Australian player has a 1-6 record against both Federer and Murray. He is 2-1 against Djokovic, with his sole loss coming in the 2022 Wimbledon final.

However, it's Nadal who draws the most ire from Kyrgios. "I can't stand Nadal," the 30-year-old told Tennis 365. "He used to be an inspiration, but playing against him filled me with hatred and contempt. Many of Nadal's mannerisms disgust me, like he has some kind of tennis disease. I find it incredibly annoying how long he takes between serves."
Nadal is known for his meticulous pre-serve rituals, which include bouncing the ball numerous times, adjusting his shirt, wiping his face, nose, and ears, and tugging at the front and back of his shorts. He's notorious for taking his time between points, unlike Federer or Kyrgios.
Kyrgios has faced Nadal 9 times, more than any other member of the Big 4, winning three of those encounters. Their head-to-head record in Grand Slams is tied at 2-2. Kyrgios notably defeated Nadal in the 4th round of Wimbledon in 2014. Eight years later, Nadal withdrew due to injury before their Wimbledon semifinal clash.
Kyrgios believes Nadal's popularity stems from his perceived resilience and seriousness on the court, particularly his refusal to break rackets. "I, on the other hand, want to show people that you can have fun and still win," said the player, currently ranked 640th in the ATP.
Kyrgios reached his career-high ranking of 13th in 2016. His biggest titles include four ATP 500 tournaments: the 2016 Japan Open, the 2019 and 2022 Washington Opens, and the 2019 Mexican Open.
