"This is what I thought would happen last season", Redknapp stated on Sky Sports, discussing Slot's future. "After Jurgen Klopp left, I thought the team would be negatively affected. But they won the league. Now is the time for patience. People will frantically say, 'Sack the manager!'. But remain calm".
Redknapp also highlighted the significant mental impact following Diogo Jota's death, a factor Slot mentioned last week. "That was the most challenging pre-season imaginable. I am not making excuses for them, but it clearly had a major impact on the entire squad", the former England midfielder said.

At Anfield on 22/11, Liverpool had 20 shots with three on target, but failed to score. Nottingham, however, had seven shots on target and scored three goals through Murillo, Nicolo Savona, and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Liverpool suffered their second consecutive 0-3 defeat in the Premier League, following the match against Man City. The reigning champions have lost 6 of their last 7 matches, dropping into the bottom half of the Premier League table and facing intense criticism.
According to Redknapp, multiple factors have contributed to Liverpool's current crisis. He cited examples: "New signings have not integrated well. Alexander Isak once rebelled at Newcastle to come here; could that be affecting him? Too many negative things are happening at once".
Nevertheless, Redknapp believes Slot – who led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season – deserves more time. "They are in a serious decline; losing 0-3 at home is a major problem. But Liverpool must be patient. Slot deserves that after what he achieved last year", the 52-year-old former player said.
In contrast, former Swansea and Wales national team center-back Ashley Williams expressed skepticism about the Dutch manager's capability. "This is the first time I have thought Slot might not be capable of guiding Liverpool out of their current situation", Williams told BBC Sport's Final Score. "You start to wonder if they should change the manager, even though that sounds crazy at this moment".
Williams argued that Liverpool had bought three or four of the best players in Europe and should have continued to dominate the league. "But the reality is quite the opposite", he commented.
Former Arsenal center-back Martin Keown suggested Liverpool is spiraling in an unimaginable way. "Whether you call it a crisis or not, it is certainly a huge problem when you lose six out of seven games", Keown stated. "The wheels are coming off for Slot. This is still Klopp's team, and he is trying to change it, but they have spent over 500 million USD and are regressing".
