Liverpool's seven consecutive goals were not from penalties; all originated from corner kicks or direct free kicks. This achievement is unprecedented in the Premier League era.
Before the West Ham match, Liverpool had scored three headed goals from corner kicks and free kicks, plus a Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick in the loss to Man City. Florian Wirtz's goal against Newcastle on 1/2 was The Kop's last open-play goal in the Premier League.

After almost a month, Liverpool repeated the feat when Cody Gakpo scored against West Ham, making it 4-1. The visitors narrowed the gap 5 minutes later, but Arne Slot's side still won by three goals when Axel Disasi scored an own goal.
Earlier in the first half, Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring after Ryan Gravenberch's attacking effort from a corner kick. Also initiating the situation from a corner, Ekitike assisted Alexis Mac Allister, who shot into the opponent's net, making it 3-0 at the end of the half.
Between those two goals was a header from Virgil van Dijk after Szoboszlai's corner kick. This was Van Dijk's 28th goal in the Premier League, making the Dutch player the second-highest scoring center-back (excluding penalties) in the league's history. The record belongs to John Terry with 41 goals.
Liverpool became the second club in the Premier League to score three goals from corner kicks in the first half, following Man Utd's instances against Leicester in 9/2016. In 2026 alone, no team in the league has scored more "set-piece" goals than the Anfield hosts, with 8 goals.
The victory gives Liverpool 48 points, level on points with 4th-placed Man Utd, and temporarily overtakes Chelsea to claim 5th place in the Premier League.
