Man City dominated the match, controlling 77% of possession and registering 16 shots with 6 on target, while Huddersfield failed to produce a single shot on goal.
Phil Foden, the brightest star to emerge from the youth ranks, shone. In the 18th minute, after a one-two with Mukasa near the penalty area, the English midfielder curled a left-footed shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Lee Nicholls. This marked Foden’s second goal of the season across all competitions, following his headed opener in the 3-0 victory against Man Utd in the third round of the Premier League.
In the 74th minute, Foden once again made his mark, assisting Savinho, who fired a left-footed shot from a tight angle into the roof of the net, securing a 2-0 victory. This was the Brazilian forward's first goal in four appearances across all competitions this season.
