On the evening of 23/7, MLS organizers confirmed that Messi and Alba had withdrawn from the all-star game scheduled for 25/7. The reason for their absence remains unclear. Organizers will consult with Inter Miami before deciding on any potential penalties.
Players who withdraw from the all-star game without a valid medical reason can be suspended for one match. However, it's possible that Messi and Alba will not face immediate sanctions.

The all-star game falls between two of Inter Miami's matches: a 5-1 win against the New York Red Bulls on 20/7 and an upcoming game against FC Cincinnati on 27/7. Withdrawing from the all-star game could allow the 36 and 38-year-old players to better prepare for the crucial match against FC Cincinnati.
"The players were called up for the all-star game. I would like them to rest, but I don't have the authority to decide," said Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano.
Fans and media selected players for the all-star rosters through a voting process. Despite Messi and Alba's withdrawal, the rosters still boast stars such as Hirving Lozano (San Diego FC) and Denis Bouanga (LAFC). CF Monterrey's center-back Sergio Ramos will captain the Liga MX side.
Messi was also named to the all-star team last year but was unable to participate due to an injury sustained in the Copa America final.
Messi has scored braces in six of his last seven MLS matches. The only match in which he didn't achieve this feat was the first leg against FC Cincinnati on 17/7, which Inter Miami lost 0-3. Inter Miami is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference and seventh overall with 41 points after 21 matches, seven points behind FC Cincinnati. However, Messi and his teammates have played three fewer games. A victory in the second leg on 27/7 would significantly improve their chances. The team leading the overall standings after 34 matches will win the Supporters' Shield, a title Inter Miami is currently defending.
