Sebastian Moll McCarthy, a German man who allegedly frequented the Rafael Nadal Academy in Manacor, was found guilty of stalking Nadal's sister after a trial in Majorca on 21/9/2025. McCarthy admitted to stalking and harassing Maribel via text messages after obtaining her mobile phone number, and threatened to "taste her blood".

Numerous messages revealed McCarthy's declarations of love for Maribel and his negative reaction after being rejected. The five-page verdict concluded that McCarthy was guilty of harassment, restricting Maribel's personal freedom, and causing her distress.
Nadal's sister had to hire security, both at work and at home. Her mental health was reportedly severely affected by the fear of sexual assault.
The verdict highlighted McCarthy's near-daily presence at the Rafael Nadal Academy, where he falsely claimed to be an athlete. The prosecutor requested a six-month prison sentence and a three-year restraining order.
However, the court suspended the prison sentence because the defendant had no prior criminal record in Spain, admitted his wrongdoing, and cooperated with the investigation. McCarthy received a four-month suspended sentence and will be imprisoned if he re-offends. He is also prohibited from contacting Maribel or coming within 300 meters of her.
The Rafael Nadal Academy in Manacor, which opened in 2016, is the most modern facility in the "King of Clay's" chain of academies. Maribel is currently the academy's deputy chief executive officer. In several interviews, Nadal has stated that his sister is the third most important woman in his life, after his mother, Ana Maria, and his wife, Mery Perello.
