National women's football championship kicks off

The opening ceremony of the 2025 National Women's Football Championship took place on the afternoon of 4/9, with 6 clubs participating.

This annual tournament, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), is the highest level of women's football in the national football system.

The tournament runs from 4/9 to 13/10 and features two stages, home and away, at Thanh Tri Stadium and the PVF Youth Football Training Center. The participating teams are Hanoi, Phong Phu Ha Nam, TP HCM I, TP HCM II, Than KSVN, and Thai Nguyen T&T.

In the first round this afternoon at the PVF Youth Football Training Center, Nguyen Thi Hoa scored the only goal, giving Hanoi a 1-0 victory over Phong Phu Ha Nam.

At Thanh Tri Stadium, Thai Nguyen T&T drew 2-2 with Than KSVN. Thai Nguyen T&T took a strong lead with an early goal by Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy in the 6th minute, followed by another from Ngoc Minh Chuyen in the 17th minute. However, their performance declined, allowing Than KSVN to score two consecutive goals. In the 36th minute, Ha Thi Nhai's header narrowed the gap to 1-2. Then, in the 52nd minute, Nguyen Thi Truc Huong scored from a pass by Nguyen Thi Van.

At the opening ceremony, VFF Deputy General Secretary and Head of the Organizing Committee, Nguyen Thanh Ha, stated that for many years, the National Women's Championship has not only been an engaging and fair competition but also a platform for discovering and nurturing young talents for the national team. "Recent achievements, especially the team's qualification for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia, affirm the steady progress of women's football in the country," she emphasized.

To serve fans nationwide, 7 matches will be livestreamed on the VFF Channel YouTube channel, and another 16 matches will be broadcast live on the OnFootball – VTVcab sports channel. This year also marks the 14th consecutive season that Thai Son Bac Electrical Equipment Trading Co., Ltd. has sponsored the tournament as the main sponsor.
