Arsenal dominated the match at the Emirates Stadium on 13/9. They controlled 55% of possession and had 16 shots with 5 on target, compared to Nottingham Forest's 3 shots with only one on target. This was Nottingham Forest's first match under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Arsenal started the match with five of their summer 2025 signings, three of whom made a significant impact. In the 32nd minute, Eberechi Eze's corner kick from the right was headed clear by Chris Wood. Zubimendi, the midfielder signed from Real Sociedad for 68 million USD, met the clearance outside the box and volleyed it into the top corner past goalkeeper Matz Sels.
