The 23-year-old German striker was granted permission by Stuttgart on 28/8 to travel to England for a medical examination. According to German newspaper Kicker, the transfer fee is 85 million euros (99 million USD), which could rise to 105 million USD depending on the performance of the 6-foot-5 striker. This is the most expensive transfer in Stuttgart's history, far exceeding the previous record of 41 million USD when Benjamin Pavard joined Bayern in 2019.
Tall but skillful, he is likened by Stuttgart fans to a "6-foot-5 Messi". The 23-year-old striker is expected to make the most of crosses from Anthony Elanga, another 55 million USD signing for Newcastle.

Woltemade only joined Stuttgart in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer from Werder Bremen. But just a year later, he exploded with 12 goals in the Bundesliga and won the Golden Boot at the European Under-21 Championship, helping Germany reach the final. The 23-year-old striker has also made two appearances for the German national team and became a target for Bayern throughout the summer. However, Bayern did not meet Stuttgart's asking price, allowing Newcastle to swoop in.
Before Woltermade, Newcastle failed in bids for a series of strikers such as Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, Joao Pedro, and Jorgen Strand Larsen. Even their star player, Alexander Isak, refused to train in an attempt to force a move. With Callum Wilson also having moved to West Ham, Newcastle was forced to quickly finalize the deal with Stuttgart, placing Woltermade among the top 30 most expensive players of all time.
The Woltermade deal paves the way for Isak to join Liverpool. The Premier League champions previously offered 110 million pounds (149 million USD) but were rejected by Newcastle. Now that they have a replacement, Newcastle is reportedly considering releasing Isak if they receive around 170 million USD, a record transfer fee for the Premier League.
Liverpool has long seen Isak as the perfect piece to compete in the Champions League, having already spent 137 million USD on Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen. If the Isak deal is successful, the Anfield club will have broken the British transfer record twice in one summer.
The English transfer market will close at the end of 1/9. Isak's transfer will be the most anticipated deal in the remaining time.
