Cypress Cove Nudist Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, is the most well-known nude pickleball club in the US. According to Mike Sullivan, a US pickleball ambassador, it's the fastest-growing sport and is poised to become the state's top sport soon.

"People want to be one with nature, without worrying about clothes," Sullivan said about the club, which has over 200 members in Florida. "Retirees make up the majority. They feel comfortable not wearing anything. It's good for their health."

In Florida, pickleball courts are often built outdoors, near forests or in parks. Many are located within coastal resorts, allowing people to be close to nature and enjoy fresh air.

"Pickleball doesn't take a lifetime to learn; it's very accessible," Sullivan added. "We developed this sport during the Covid-19 pandemic when it was mainly played at home. Gradually, it became a safe outdoor activity. You can feel the beautiful Florida sun and breeze on your skin."

Nudism is a characteristic of American culture that emerged in the 1930s. In sports, some players embrace the concept of "non-sexual social nudity." This allows them to confidently shed their clothes and play comfortably with like-minded individuals.

Nude pickleball clubs are separate from regular clubs, situated in more private locations to ensure players' privacy. Enjoying freedom is what nude pickleball players seek.

Besides Florida, many US states like Arizona, California, Connecticut, Michigan, Indiana, and New York have nude pickleball clubs. These clubs are actively promoting themselves on social media to attract new members.

"From what I know, about 24 US states have at least one nude pickleball club," Sullivan said. "Florida has six, Texas and Oregon have three. All are thriving. Members understand what they need and want from nude pickleball."
