"Kane is a fantastic finisher," Owen stated on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast on 3/9. "But, I disagree with his move to Germany. To this day, I still think he made a foolish move. He was on the verge of becoming the Premier League's all-time leading scorer, and his children are in school in England. I mean, he shouldn't have left the country."

Playing for Tottenham, Kane scored 213 Premier League goals, just 47 shy of Alan Shearer's record, but never won a major trophy. His biggest achievement with the London club was reaching the 2019 Champions League final.
In 2023, Kane moved to Germany to join Bayern. There, he maintained his scoring prowess, with 91 goals in 100 matches, while winning the 2024-2025 Bundesliga title and the 2025 German Super Cup.
Upon winning the Bundesliga in May, Kane admitted that the pressure to win a team trophy had been a burden, and he was relieved to finally achieve it. The England captain even asserted that it meant more than any scoring accolade.
However, according to Owen, after securing team honors, Kane should have returned to the Premier League to chase the scoring record. Given his skill and current form, the 1993-born striker is expected to surpass Shearer within two or three seasons.
"If you crave something that much, stay another year and then leave," Owen said. "But it's like going to Celtic, where you win the league every year, and it's not a huge achievement. The real achievement would be to become the Premier League's all-time top scorer. Along the way, he could have won more team trophies too."
During his playing career, Owen won 10 team trophies with Liverpool, Newcastle, and Man Utd. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot twice, the 2001 Ballon d'Or, and scored 40 goals for England.
At the international level, Kane holds the record with 73 goals for the Three Lions. He and his teammates reached the World Cup semi-final in 2018 and the Euro finals in 2021 and 2024, but were unsuccessful each time.
