Chelsea had played evenly in the first leg in France, only faltering after a 74th-minute error by goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. At home, however, any hope of a comeback was quickly dashed as their defense made continuous mistakes from the start.

Just six minutes in, a free-kick near the box saw goalkeeper Matvey Safonov launch a long ball left. Center-back Mamadou Sarr's mis-clearance inadvertently became an assist, allowing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to burst into the penalty area and beat Robert Sanchez with an angled left-footed shot. This 5-minute, 41-second goal marked Chelsea's earliest home concession in a Champions League knockout match, dampening the hosts' hopes.
Before Chelsea could regroup, they conceded again in the 14th minute. A misplaced pass by a Chelsea player to teammate Andrey Santos in midfield initiated a swift PSG counter-attack. The ball quickly moved through Warren Zaire-Emery and Achraf Hakimi before Bradley Barcola fired into the top corner, doubling PSG's lead. Conceding two goals in just 14 minutes marked a historical first for Chelsea in the Champions League, unfolding as a nightmare at Stamford Bridge.

PSG dominated the match and could have extended their lead before halftime. In the 32nd minute, Kvaratskhelia scored, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Later, in the 43rd minute, Barcola surged from his own half into the penalty area, but his narrow-angle shot failed to beat Sanchez.
Chelsea's resignation became evident in the second half. In the 60th minute, coach Liam Rosenior made a triple substitution, withdrawing key players Enzo Fernandez, Joao Pedro, and Cole Palmer, a clear admission of helplessness.
Just two minutes later, PSG sealed their victory. Following a scramble at the edge of the penalty area, the ball fell perfectly for substitute Senny Mayulu, who curled a one-touch shot into the top corner, leaving Sanchez helpless.

The crushing 2-8 aggregate defeat ended Chelsea's Champions League campaign. It also marked the first time in their history they conceded eight goals in a knockout tie across all competitions. A gloomy night at Stamford Bridge, it served as a wake-up call for the future under new coach Liam Rosenior.
Conversely, PSG solidified their status as a top contender for the title with a dominant performance. This marks their 9th Champions League quarterfinal appearance since Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) took over in 2011 – a record surpassed only by powerhouses like Barcelona (11), Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid (13) during the same timeframe.
