Last weekend, PSG fans chanted Donnarumma's name at the Parc des Princes after their 1-0 victory against Angers. The Italian goalkeeper joined his teammates in acknowledging the passionate supporters before walking around the stadium in what seemed like a farewell gesture. However, three days later, his transfer is still pending.

The arrival of young goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille has made Donnarumma's position at PSG untenable. French media report that Man City is keen to bring him in as a replacement for Ederson. Manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly spoken directly with the 26-year-old goalkeeper, expressing his desire to work with him.
The main obstacle is the transfer fee. PSG initially demanded 58 million USD for the 1.96-meter-tall goalkeeper, who played a key role in the club's first Champions League title. However, with only one year left on his contract, PSG has reduced their asking price to between 35 million and 41 million USD.
Man City first needs to resolve Ederson's future. The Brazilian goalkeeper has reached a personal agreement with Galatasaray, but the Turkish club has yet to finalize the transfer fee with Man City. If this deal is completed in the next few days, Donnarumma's move to Etihad will be almost certain.
Man City has already acquired six players in the summer of 2025, spending a total of 206 million USD. Among the most expensive signings are midfielder Tijjani Reijnders (64 million USD), left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri (43 million USD), midfielder Rayan Cherki (42.5 million USD), and goalkeeper James Trafford (36 million USD).
In addition to Chevalier, PSG has also signed center-back Ilya Zabarnyi from Bournemouth for 73 million USD. They are understandably reluctant to lose one of the world's top goalkeepers for free in the summer of 2026, while Man City needs a timely replacement. This is likely to be a significant transfer in the final week of the window.
