Rashford rekindles romance with childhood sweetheart

Striker Marcus Rashford has reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Lucia Loi, after years of on-and-off dating.

This news could be a good omen for Barca fans, as Rashford has historically performed well when his relationship with Loi is thriving.

According to British media, Rashford reached out to Loi after finalizing his loan deal with Barca in 7/2025. He reportedly needed emotional support during his time away from Manchester to adapt to life in Spain. Loi, a constant companion throughout Rashford's development at Man Utd, could provide that stability.

Their love story began at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester, where they met at the age of 15. Loi was by Rashford's side during his breakout years at Man Utd. Their relationship lasted eight years before ending in 2021, coinciding with a significant dip in Rashford's form.

Upon reuniting in 2022, his performance immediately improved, scoring 30 goals in his first season under manager Erik ten Hag and contributing to Man Utd's League Cup victory.

Just a year later, they got engaged with a 338,000 USD ring but separated again in mid-2023. The breakup correlated with another slump for Rashford, who scored only eight goals in the 2023-2024 season. Despite their separation, they remained in contact and maintained a close friendship.

12 years after their first encounter, Rashford and Loi are back together. According to the Daily Mail, Loi accompanied him to Barca's official photoshoot, even adjusting his attire before the cameras. Those close to the couple believe she brings calmness, focus, and joy to the English striker.

Rashford is currently on loan at Barca for the 2025-2026 season. In his two La Liga appearances, he has played a total of 67 minutes but has yet to score or assist. The 27-year-old will return to Man Utd at the end of the season, where his contract runs until the summer of 2028.
