Against Mallorca, Xabi Alonso's team controlled the game from the outset. Their early efforts seemed to pay off when Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net from a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass. However, VAR confirmed Mbappe was offside.
The disappointment at the Bernabeu turned to shock in the 18th minute when Verdat Muriqi outjumped everyone to head the ball past Thibaut Courtois. The goal spurred the home side into more urgent attacks, but efforts from Vinicius, Franco Mastantuono, and Aurelien Tchouameni couldn't beat goalkeeper Leo Roman.
Real Madrid finally equalized in the 37th minute through Arda Guler from a corner kick. Just seconds later, they took the lead thanks to a solo effort from Vinicius.

Before halftime, Mbappe again found the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Early in the second half, Real had another goal ruled out for a handball by Guler.
Unable to extend their lead, Real faced pressure to protect their advantage. However, crucial interventions near the goal line by Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras denied efforts from Muriqi and Samu Costa, preserving Real's lead.
The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Real Madrid, who controlled 58% of the possession. They had 17 shots, 7 on target, two more than Mallorca.
After the first three La Liga matches, Real Madrid have three wins, scoring six goals and conceding one. Barca, Villarreal, and Athletic Bilbao are the other teams with a perfect record after three rounds.
