Shooting in Sweden possibly linked to Gyokeres' Arsenal transfer

Stockholm police are investigating a shooting at a house, potentially connected to Viktor Gyokeres' 86 million USD move to Arsenal.

According to leading Swedish newspaper Dagens ETC, two shots were fired at the home of a relative of a football agent on Sunday, 10/8. No one was injured in the incident.

Police suspect the shooting was an intimidation tactic aimed at extorting money from the transfer fee.

The agent had previously posted on social media about his involvement in Gyokeres' transfer. Agents typically receive a percentage of the transfer fee in major deals. The sum involved in this transfer is substantial, as Gyokeres signed a 5-year contract with Arsenal, earning 175,000 USD per week, making him the Gunners' sixth summer signing.

Gyokeres is currently represented by HCM, the same agency that represents prominent players like Frenkie de Jong and Antonio Rudiger. HC are the initials of agent and company owner Hasan Cetinkaya. Swedish media have reported alleged links between this agency and criminal organizations.

The incident has reignited controversy surrounding football agencies in Sweden. Another agency, Universal Twenty Two (UTT), which represents well-known players such as forward Alexander Isak and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, has been blacklisted by AIK and several other clubs due to alleged connections with organized crime. UTT has been accused of recruiting criminals to scout and recruit young talent, particularly in immigrant communities in Sweden.

Both Gyokeres and Isak have been involved in transfer-related issues this summer of 2025. Martinez is also currently struggling to find a new club.

While no suspects have been named or arrests made, police have confirmed that they are investigating the incident as directly related to football finances and transfer contracts.
