Jannik Sinner made history at the Madrid Open, extending one of the most impressive streaks in tennis. The Madrid Open final, featuring the top two seeds for the first time in 10 years, proved remarkably one-sided, a stark contrast to the balanced matches created by legends like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, or Andy Murray in previous years.
Sinner's performance was flawless. He converted all four of his break point opportunities and faced no break chances against his own serve. He won an impressive 93% of points on his first serve (27/29), consistently hitting powerful, accurate shots from the baseline, giving Zverev no opportunity to regain control.

The match was virtually decided in just 14 minutes. Trailing 0-3 and struggling against Sinner's near-perfect play, Zverev started his service game with two consecutive missed smashes. These errors caused him to completely lose control of the match.
"I started the match very well by getting an immediate break," Sinner said of the 58-minute victory. "He wasn't playing his best today, so I just tried to be aggressive. I am very happy with my current level. It's great to continue winning a title like this."
Alexander Zverev entered the tournament aiming to become the fourth player in history to win at least three Madrid titles, following Rafael Nadal (five times), Novak Djokovic (three times), and Roger Federer (three times). However, he played helplessly throughout a forgettable 58 minutes.
Despite losing four of their first five encounters, Sinner has now won nine consecutive matches against Zverev, including the last 14 sets. Sinner currently holds 14.350 ATP points, one of the highest totals in history, compared to 5.805 points for Zverev, the world number three player.
Sinner is the first player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 tournaments and the first to claim all four of the year's initial Masters 1000 titles. The Italian player currently boasts a 23-match winning streak.
In 2018, Djokovic achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first player to win all nine Masters 1000 titles. Sinner, at just 24 years old, currently holds eight titles and will have the opportunity to complete his collection at his home tournament, the Rome Masters, next week.
