Southeast Asian esports cup delivers thrilling action at Vietnam GameVerse 2026

The national teams of Vietnam and Thailand battled fiercely in a nail-biting Total Football final at Vietnam's largest gaming festival.

The tournament features a national team competition format across multiple titles, including PUBG Mobile, Crossfire: Legends (CFL), and Total Football. The total prize pool for SNC 2026 is 41,000 USD, equivalent to over 1 billion VND.

This year's event marked the first time the Southeast Asian Esports Federation (SEAEF), Vietnam GameVerse, and VNGGames collaborated to host the annual SEA Esports Nations Cup (SNC) for national teams.

The event, initiated by the Southeast Asian Esports Federation (SEAEF), aims to connect member nations, organizing bodies, and the esports community across the region.

The SNC tournament is among the prominent events at Vietnam GameVerse 2026, held on 9-10/5 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City. Pictured, a large crowd of young people gathered in Hall B of the center to watch the high-level matches between regional nations across various game titles.

In the Total Football discipline, Vietnam's representative, Doan Trong Tan (TunTun), impressively defeated Myanmar 2-0 in the play-off round and then overcame Malaysia 3-2 in the semifinals to reach the final against Thailand.

Trong Tan at one point led 5-2 but ultimately lost 5-6 to Nathawat Satake (Crm-Jacob) in the two-leg Total Football final. Ultimately, Thailand secured the gold medal, while Vietnam earned the silver after a thrilling match.

Also at SNC, PUBG Mobile was a prominent event, thanks to its large player base in Southeast Asia and the international achievements of many regional teams. Host nation Vietnam impressively secured the gold medal in this event.

The SNC event contributes to promoting domestic esports while fostering further connections between esports, the gaming industry, and the digital content sector in the region. Vietnam GameVerse is expanding its role from a community event into a networking space for businesses, developers, regulatory bodies, and the gaming community, as well as game enthusiasts.

Following the first day, which saw over 16,000 attendees, GameVerse 2026 continued to draw a large crowd of fans on its second day, eager to support the gamers at SNC. Pictured, spectators cheered enthusiastically as team TD - T1 claimed victory in the Game Arena: Silk Road Origin Mobile event.

According to Nguyen Huu Dung, captain of TD - T1, this year's season was highly competitive, with the team facing international opponents, many of whom had invested significantly in both skills and strategy. The TD - T1 captain also noted that this year's tournament featured more professional organization, competition stages, and athlete experiences.
