With the men's football and futsal tournaments of SEA Games 33 set to begin in just one day, Ultras Thailand have made a surprising decision. The group stated their main reason is the rule requiring spectators to register personal information before entering the stadium, even though matches are free to attend.

The Ultras argue this infringes on the basic freedom of sports viewers and poses a risk of personal data leakage. This rule does not apply to VIP areas, creating inequality among spectator groups.
The Ultras also object to the seating arrangement for football supporters. Under the new rules, they are not allowed to stand directly behind the goal, while visiting team fans are permitted in this area. The Ultras believe this arrangement gives a psychological advantage to opponents and reduces the pressure they can exert.
"We always stand with the team, but cannot accept how the organizers are managing this event", the group wrote in a social media announcement.
The Ultras will still travel with the national team to every match but will remain outside the stadium until policies are adjusted.
SEA Games 33 officially takes place in Bangkok from 9/12 to 20/12. Last week, organizers announced venue changes for 11 sports, including men's football, due to severe floods in the southern region that killed over 170 people. At the same time, Cambodia withdrew from 8 sports over security concerns amid border tensions.
The absence of Ultras Thailand in the stands is expected to significantly impact the atmosphere at the host team's matches. The group is considered the most organized support force in Thai football, often creating vibrant atmospheres in international stadiums.
U22 Thailand will play their opening men's football match against Timor Leste at 19:00 on 3/12.
