Woods was released on the evening of 28/3 after his arrest in connection with a traffic accident on Jupiter Island, Florida, US. Earlier, the 50-year-old golf legend was accused of driving at high speed, attempting to overtake a tow truck on a residential road, and colliding with the rear of the vehicle, which caused his SUV to overturn.

According to authorities, after extricating himself from the vehicle through the passenger door, Woods refused to provide a urine sample and was arrested on charges including driving under the influence (DUI), property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He was transported to the Martin County Public Safety Center for booking procedures around 3 p.m.
A mugshot released around 10 p.m. showed Woods with swollen, red eyes. Approximately an hour later, he posted bail and left the detention center, surrounded by fans and media.

Sheriff John Budensiek stated that all citizens must comply with the law, regardless of their fame. He affirmed that Woods was not held with other inmates to ensure his safety.
At the scene, Woods passed a breathalyzer test with a "0.000" result but twice refused a urine test. Authorities determined he was not under the influence of alcohol but possibly another drug or substance.

Woods was previously arrested for DUI in 2017, after which he entered a rehabilitation center. In 2009, he was also embroiled in scandal after another accident, which led to his admission of multiple extramarital affairs and his divorce from ex-wife Elin Nordegren in 2010.
Woods currently maintains a friendly relationship with his ex-wife to co-parent their two children, with their son Charlie pursuing a golf career. He is reportedly dating Vanessa Trump, former daughter-in-law of US President Donald Trump, since late 2024.
This incident occurred shortly after Woods returned to competition at an event earlier this week. The new development casts a shadow over the comeback efforts of one of golf's greatest legends.
