During his tenure, which began in 3/2001, Levy transformed Tottenham into a global brand with a state-of-the-art stadium and training center, among the best in Europe.
However, on the field, Spurs only secured two trophies during his leadership – the 2008 League Cup and the 2025 Europa League.
Levy's departure comes amid repeated fan protests accusing him of prioritizing financial gains over the pursuit of titles. The 62-year-old businessman once admitted, "I want to win, and when the club isn't playing well and not winning, I feel the pain just like the fans".

In his farewell statement, Levy expressed pride in "building Tottenham into a global force and a strong community," thanking the players, coaches, and fans who supported him throughout his time at the club.
Tottenham also highlighted its significant progress under Levy: participating in European competitions in 18 of the last 20 seasons, continuous investment in the academy, squad, and facilities, culminating in last season's Europa League victory. Several key appointments have been made, including CEO Vinai Venkatesham, men's head coach Thomas Frank, women's head coach Martin Ho, and the new chairman Peter Charrington.
Charrington, a director of ENIC Group, joined the board in March and has been appointed as Levy's replacement in a non-executive chairman role.
Tottenham stated that the succession planning has been underway for months, but confirmed the existing ownership structure remains unchanged. ENIC holds 86.58% of Tottenham's shares, with Levy owning 29.88% of ENIC.
In his inaugural address, Charrington pledged to lead the club into a new era both on and off the field, focusing on stability and empowering the management team led by Venkatesham.

Over the past few months, Tottenham has experienced significant personnel changes: director of football Scott Munn departed in June, followed by board member Donna-Maria Cullen. It was Levy who decided to dismiss coach Ange Postecoglou in June, just 16 days after he led the club to its first trophy in 17 years, winning the Europa League.
