U22 Vietnam holds light training after arriving in Thailand

Hours after arriving in Thailand, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team held their first training session on the afternoon of 1/12.

The training session began at 5 PM at RABC University field in Bangkok. Having just traveled from Vietnam, the players primarily engaged in light jogging to loosen up. They appeared cheerful and showed no signs of fatigue.

Coach Kim also participated in light warm-ups, occasionally joking with his assistants or juggling the ball. The South Korean tactician was pleased to witness his players' enthusiastic spirit during the session.

The players then transitioned to stretching exercises, with coach Kim joining them.

Subsequently, they practiced chest trapping, light volleys, and headers. All players demonstrated proficiency in these fundamental movements.

Speaking before the training session, captain Khuat Van Khang shared that the entire squad arrived at SEA Games 33 with high morale.

"Two years ago, I participated in the SEA Games in Cambodia and only won a bronze medal, which was not the desired outcome. This time, my teammates and I are determined to achieve the best possible results for Vietnamese football," said the midfielder from The Cong.

According to Van Khang, the team completed a week-long training camp in Vung Tau to refine tactics. Upcoming sessions will focus on enhancing team cohesion and improving finishing accuracy.

This year's SEA Games 33 features 9 teams, divided into three groups. Teams will play a single round-robin, with the three group winners and the best second-placed team advancing to the semifinals.

Vietnam is in Group B, scheduled to face Laos on 3/12 and Malaysia on 11/12.

Vice-captain Nguyen Dinh Bac, despite joining the team only three days ago, appeared very excited and trained with great enthusiasm.

Also present was defender Pham Ly Duc, one of the players making his debut at the SEA Games.

After approximately one hour of training, coach Kim Sang-sik gathered the players in the center of the field for a 5-minute discussion. Afterward, the entire team huddled, chanted "Vietnam," and concluded the session.

Tomorrow noon, coach Kim and captain Khuat Van Khang will attend the press conference before the match against Laos.

To preserve the pitch condition, Vietnam will not conduct a practice session on the Rajamangala stadium but may take a walk around the venue.

Team leader Tran Anh Tu stated that despite the change in competition venue from Songkhla to Bangkok, the Federation prepared all necessary arrangements to provide the best conditions for the team.

"After learning that the matches would be held in Bangkok, we sent two Federation staff members ahead to prepare logistics. The team's journey to the hotel, from immigration to check-in, was smooth," said the Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
