The attack occurred around 11:30 PM on 15/7 as Khizriev was opening his car door. The attackers, who were lying in wait, opened fire on him.

Witnesses reported that the two assailants fired up to 10 shots. Khizriev was hit five times in the shoulder, chest, back, and wrist. Despite his injuries, the Russian fighter fought back and managed to flee the scene.

The attackers escaped in a car, shouting insults at Khizriev and his family. Local media speculate the incident may be related to a personal conflict, a dispute within the sports world, or local organized crime.

Local police are searching for the two gunmen who fled the scene in a white Lada Priora driven by a third suspect. No arrests have been made yet.

Following the ambush, Khizriev was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. According to local media, the 29-year-old fighter is now in stable condition and recovering, no longer in critical condition.
