To sustain and expand on these achievements, the Vietnam Badminton Federation is simultaneously investing in key players like Nguyen Thuy Linh, Le Duc Phat, and Nguyen Hai Dang, while also accelerating efforts to identify and train the next generation. Early youth training is considered a crucial factor, enabling athletes to accumulate points, experience, and competitive spirit in international tournaments.
One promising talent is 14-year-old Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen. Recently, she competed in two consecutive international tournaments in Bangladesh, winning a bronze medal and subsequently climbing over 700 spots in the world rankings. Thu Huyen is currently ranked 52nd, the highest position for Vietnam on the junior world rankings. This player is being guided towards competitions with an eye on the Youth Olympics 2026.
Alongside elite training, local badminton movements are also emphasized to broaden the talent pool. "Many localities with strong movements, such as Bac Ninh, Dong Nai, Hai Phong, Ha Noi, and TP HCM, effectively maintain their youth talent programs, facilitating the discovery of potential athletes to bolster the national team," a Federation representative stated.
During the development of young talent, sponsors continue to support Vietnamese badminton. Li-Ning provides equipment and funding for several athletes, including Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Le Minh Son, Pham Van Hai, Than Van Anh, and Tran Quoc Khanh. They also offer long-term sponsorship for many youth talent teams in Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Dong Nai, and Military Region 7, allowing young athletes to train with peace of mind.
