Compared to the opening match where they beat China 1-0 on 12/11, Vietnam's starting lineup retained the defensive trio of Pham Ly Duc, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Nhat Minh, and midfielder Nguyen Van Truong. Goalkeeper Cao Van Binh was replaced by Tran Trung Kien, while Pham Minh Phuc and Nguyen Phi Hoang stepped in for Vo Anh Quan and Khuat Van Khang on the wings.
