According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Da Nang will experience a prolonged heatwave starting 18/7. Temperatures are expected to peak at 35-36 degrees Celsius, primarily from midday to early afternoon. The weather will be mostly sunny, with light winds and average humidity.
These conditions are expected to last through the week, coinciding with the Vnexpress Marathon Da Nang, which will host 11,000 participants. While the dry conditions are ideal for the course and logistics, the heat poses a risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance for runners, especially during longer runs.

To facilitate race-kit pickup and expo activities, organizers have set up a covered area of over 3,000 square meters at Bien Dong Park. This area is expected to see a large influx of runners and their families.
Organizers recommend runners collect their race kits in the morning or after 4 pm to avoid the peak heat from 10 am to 3 pm. Runners are advised to bring wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, personal water bottles, and sunscreen.
The 42km race will start at 2:30 am on Sunday, 20/7, followed by the 21km, 5km, and 10km races at 3:30 am, 5 am, and 5:30 am, respectively. These early hours offer cooler temperatures between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. However, after 7:30 am, temperatures are expected to rise rapidly, potentially reaching 35 degrees Celsius by late morning, particularly affecting half and full marathon participants.
The race's medical expert, Dr. Bui Phu Truong, warns of the increased risk of electrolyte imbalance and heatstroke in hot weather if runners don't adjust their pace and hydration accordingly. He advises runners to wear light, breathable clothing with hats and sunglasses. Those unaccustomed to running in the heat should reduce their pace by 10-15 seconds/km compared to their training pace.

Runners are encouraged to carry mini cold towels or cooling gels for their neck, nape, or wrists. After finishing the race, they should rest in the shade for at least 10-15 minutes before showering or swimming to allow their bodies to recover and avoid heatstroke.
Water stations along the course will provide water, electrolytes, and fruit. Runners should utilize all stations to maintain their energy levels.
The Vnexpress Marathon Da Nang 2025 takes place on the morning of 20/7, with a route passing iconic landmarks such as the Dragon Bridge, Thuan Phuoc Bridge, Han River, and Vo Nguyen Giap coastal road. This year, the starting time has been changed to 2:30 am. The finish line for the 42km race has been moved to Bien Dong Park to accommodate more spectators and enhance the runner experience. More information about the race is available online.
