Kai joined the Manchester United academy in 2020. There, the son of the English legend quickly demonstrated his talent, progressing through the youth ranks. Last month, he was promoted to the under-18 squad and even scored in his second appearance during a 5-0 victory against Middlesbrough.
Regarding Kai's development, Rooney admitted he doesn't offer excessive guidance. Instead, he wants his son to play in a way that feels right for him.
"It’s unfair to put expectations on him," Rooney stated. "He’s a 15-year-old boy who is playing and enjoying his football. Of course he’s getting attention because of his teammates, but he’s handling it well. He’s got some great coaches at Manchester United. For me, the most important thing is to make sure he’s mentally prepared and focused to continue enjoying the game."

Rooney is considered one of English football's greatest players. In 2002, at the age of 16, he set the record for the youngest goal scorer in the Premier League with a long-range strike against Arsenal in a 2-1 win for Everton. This record was later broken by James Milner and James Vaughan.
In 2004, Rooney joined Manchester United and became a club legend. By the time he left in 2017, he had set a club record of 253 goals, winning a Champions League title and five Premier League titles.
Rooney and his wife Coleen have four sons: Kai (born in 2009), Klay (2013), Kit (2016), and Cass (2018).
