Anisimova's cheerful mood is understandable given her recent success on the court. The 24-year-old concluded her 2025 season by climbing to world number 4, a career-high ranking. This achievement followed a highly successful year that saw her win her first WTA 1000 title at the Qatar Open and reach the Wimbledon final. Although she lost to Iga Swiatek in the final, Anisimova reached a new milestone by entering the world top 10 at seventh place.
Her strong form continued into the second half of the season. Anisimova advanced to her second career Grand Slam final at the US Open before losing to Aryna Sabalenka. These excellent results throughout the year earned Anisimova her first qualification for the WTA Finals, where she reached the semifinals.
These remarkable results are a well-deserved reward for Anisimova's perseverance and dedication. Her success has earned further admiration from the tennis community, especially considering she had taken an eight-month break from the court in 2023 due to burnout and mental health concerns.

Anisimova's mental issues stemmed from immense pressure and overwhelming expectations. The tennis player, born in 2001, was previously considered a child prodigy in women's tennis. She turned professional at 15 years old and by 2019, she had reached the Roland Garros semifinals at 17. However, it wasn't until this season that Anisimova achieved new breakthroughs in her career.
Reflecting on her journey, Anisimova shared her perspective at the WTA Finals this month. "I think I've done a very good job balancing my time between competition and personal life," she said. "I've been through difficult situations and events, but that helped me learn a lot, especially about mental strength. I've healed. I'm proud of how I fight and express myself when I play on court."
