After entering the Gulf of Tonkin on the afternoon of 19/7, Typhoon Wipha intensified to near category 11, with gusts reaching category 14. It continues to move west-northwest at 20-25 km/h.
Typhoon Wipha, with maximum sustained winds of 88 km/h, a category 9 storm, entered the South China Sea early this morning and is forecast to strengthen further, heading towards the Gulf of Tonkin.
