Five school staff in Lam Thanh commune have lost their jobs after years on contract, due to funding issues following a transfer from district to commune management.

Teachers would be required to declare relationships with owners of extra-curricular class facilities and barred from using relatives to influence these activities, to prevent conflicts of interest, according to a new draft from the Ministry of Education.

Many localities have distributed Tet bonuses to teachers, with the highest at 14 million VND and a common range of 10-11 million, doubling last year's amount due to the policy being fully applied for the entire year.

Teachers in 38 communes and wards have not received 38,6 billion VND in overtime teaching pay from local authorities over the past five years.

Teachers who self-funded their college or university education to meet new standards under the education law after 1/7/2020 will receive tuition fee reimbursements from local authorities.
