Residents in 24 states, stretching from texas to the carolinas and massachusetts, are at risk of widespread power outages and travel paralysis as a major winter storm approaches this weekend.

A severe winter storm on the Kamchatka Peninsula has buried many areas under up to 12 meters of snow, disrupting traffic and causing at least two deaths.
