Lung Cu plants 70 hectares of buckwheat flowers for the 2026 festival season

Lung Cu commune plants approximately 70 hectares of buckwheat flowers across 16 hamlets, divided into three phases to extend the blooming season and serve visitors during the 12th Tuyen Quang buckwheat flower festival.

With nearly one month remaining until the opening of the 12th Tuyen Quang province buckwheat flower festival in 2026, local residents are tending to the flower fields, enhancing the landscape, and preparing for visitors.

This year, the commune allocated about 70 hectares of buckwheat flowers across 16 hamlets. The core festival area spans 18,2 hectares, concentrated in Then Pa, Lo Lo Chai, San Tro, Ma Le, and Ma So hamlets. The fields are sown in three phases to ensure continuous blooming, creating a focal point during the festival and extending the flower season until early december.

The first planting phase took place from 25-30/8, covering 18,2 hectares in 12 hamlets. These flowers are expected to bloom beautifully by mid-october, serving visitors during the initial phase of the festival season.

The second, and main, planting phase was implemented from 20-25/9, covering 29,4 hectares across 15 hamlets. Of this, 18,2 hectares are within the planned festival area. Inspections show the plants are growing well, and residents continue to care for them to ensure uniform development and timely blooming.

The third phase is scheduled to begin from 15-20/10, covering 22,5 hectares in 16 hamlets. This strategy aims to maintain the buckwheat flower landscape until early december, offering additional attractions for visitors later in the season.

According to Mr. Giang Mi Mua, Vice Chairman of Lung Cu Commune People's Committee, the locality guides residents through all stages, from seed selection and soil preparation to care. Households are encouraged to regularly inspect flower fields, replant sparse areas, prune plants, weed, and regulate water according to weather conditions. Commune officials also monitor plant growth to detect and address pests and diseases promptly.

Organizing multiple planting phases allows the locality greater control over blooming times. Instead of concentrating flowers in a short period, the fields are arranged to bloom sequentially, providing extended visiting opportunities for tourists throughout the festival season.

Beyond plant care, Lung Cu commune aims to develop flower areas integrated with natural landscapes, hamlets, and the local cultural life. These flower fields are expected to connect sightseeing and experiential activities with destinations like the Lung Cu National Flagpole and traditional hamlets.

Mr. Tran Duc Chung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Lung Cu Commune People's Committee, stated that the locality views festival preparations as encompassing planning, planting, care, and organizing visitor spaces. The commune encourages residents to plant flowers in favorable areas, shaping them and creating scenic highlights.

Concurrently, the locality promotes tourism, encourages residents to maintain environmental hygiene, beautify residential areas, and develop products for visitors. Activities showcasing ethnic cuisine, cultural experiences, and artistic performances are also emphasized to diversify local experiences.

Ensuring security, traffic safety, food safety, and service quality are integral to the preparation plan. According to commune authorities, community participation is crucial in shaping the destination's image and enhancing visitor experience.

The buckwheat flower festival is a signature tourism product of the Stone Plateau region. For Lung Cu, the flower season also serves as an opportunity to showcase the northernmost region's landscape, cultural identity, and community life, thereby attracting visitors and boosting local tourism.
