Over 10,000 tourists welcome new year in Sunset Town

Over 50 shows, featuring 200 international artists, and three fireworks displays attracted numerous tourists to Sunset Town on the night of 31/12.

From late afternoon, crowds flocked to Sunset Town, South Phu Quoc island, to attend the "Spectacular Countdown 2026" event and await the New Year. The town's streets transformed into a stage for the grand music festival.

The first fireworks display of the night was part of the "Symphony of the Sea" show. Thousands of fireworks, water fireworks, and flares lit up the bay, combined with skilled acrobatics by flyboard athletes and high-speed jetski maneuvers.

Sun Bavaria GastroPub restaurant served as a prime viewing spot for the New Year's Eve show, offering music and craft beer. Thousands of diners danced to the drum beats of the "Malambo" show, which unfolded just before the New Year.

Rahul Sharma, an Indian tourist, shared, "Every year I travel for New Year's, but I've never experienced an atmosphere as wonderful as this. Everyone is dancing, laughing, and cheering; it's a perfect setting for friends to gather."

A few hundred meters towards the sea, Sunset Beach Club transformed into a vibrant hub with exciting performances like "Sunny Dance" and "Yum Yum Dance", bringing thousands of tourists together.

Following this, the high-altitude artistic fireworks display from the show "Kiss of the Sea" continued.

At midnight, the main high-altitude fireworks display, designed by the reigning DIFF champions, illuminated Sunset Town. This year's longest display, featuring twice the usual density of fireworks, transformed the Phu Quoc sky into a dazzling light spectacle reflecting on the sea. Simultaneously, a radiant "Happy New Year 2026" emblem lit up, concluding the night's three fireworks shows.

Anna Ivanova, a Russian tourist, shared, "I have never celebrated the New Year as beautifully and brilliantly as in Phu Quoc tonight. The fireworks, the sea, the music—everything is perfect. I feel incredible energy and believe this new year will be filled with joy."

The festive atmosphere continued until dawn with DJ performances, creating a vibrant, modern ambiance. Electronic music and a sophisticated lighting system kept a large audience engaged.

Phu Quoc welcomed a significant influx of visitors during the New Year's holiday. Phu Quoc International Airport reported 288 flights arriving between 1/1 and 4/1, marking a 27% increase year-on-year. International flights accounted for 147 of these, up 23% compared to the same period. Sunset Town itself saw record numbers, with a 76% increase in visitors to its entertainment venues compared to the previous year.
