Traveling by metro to Hanoi's national day parade

Hanoi's metro system offers a convenient way to reach viewing points for the national day parade on 2/9.

Hanoi offers two metro lines, Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station, for residents and visitors attending the National Day celebrations on 2/9. Each line provides access to various viewing locations.

This 12-station line, starting from Yen Nghia, serves residents from districts such as Chuong My, My Duc, Quoc Oai, Thanh Tri, Ha Dong, and Thanh Xuan traveling to the city center. Passengers can disembark at four stations: Cat Linh, La Thanh, Thai Ha, and Lang, then walk to their desired viewing spots.

The Cat Linh station exit leads to Giang Vo street, offering views of parade route 7A featuring wheeled vehicles.

From Cat Linh station, a short walk through Giang Van Minh street (280 m) and Giang Vo street (400 m) leads to Kim Ma and Nguyen Thai Hoc streets, where parade routes 3 (military, international military, militia, and police) and 8 (flag procession) can be viewed.

From La Thanh station, an 800 m walk along Lang street leads to the De La Thanh - Giang Vo intersection, providing views of route 7A.

From Thai Ha station, a 650 m walk along Thai Ha street leads to the Thai Ha - Lang Ha intersection near the National Cinema Center, offering views of route 7A.

From Lang station, a 700 m walk along Lang street leads to the Lang - Lang Ha intersection (750 m), also providing views of route 7A.

Line 3: Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station

The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line has eight operational stations, running from Nhon to Cau Giay (near Thu Le Park). This line is convenient for residents and visitors in districts such as Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Tu Liem, My Dinh, and Cau Giay.

For the closest access to the parade, passengers can disembark at the final station, Cau Giay, and walk about 1.2 km towards Thu Le lake to reach the Kim Ma - Nguyen Chi Thanh - Lieu Giai intersection. This area provides easy access to nearby viewing areas for parade routes 3 and 8.

Beyond these locations, passengers can walk further from the stations to other viewing spots like Hung Vuong, Le Duan, etc.

Important notes for metro travelers:

Hanoi Metro advises purchasing round-trip tickets to save time and avoid queuing. Passengers should follow station staff instructions, particularly when queuing for tickets, platforms, and trains, avoiding pushing and shoving. Restrooms should be used immediately after exiting the train and before leaving the ticket gate due to limited public restroom availability near stations.

Both metro lines will have extended operating hours: 5:30 a.m. to midnight on 27/8 and 29/8, 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on 30/8, and 5:30 a.m. to midnight on 1/9. On 2/9, trains will run continuously from midnight to 10:00 p.m. with a frequency of six minutes during peak hours and 10 minutes during off-peak hours, pausing only for 80 minutes for maintenance.
