This marks Vietnam Airlines' inaugural route to Sri Lanka, providing a direct flight option from Vietnam to the South Asian region. The new route not only reduces travel time but also facilitates tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
A representative for the airline stated that the early launch of the Ho Chi Minh City - Colombo route reflects positive signals from the South Asian market and growing demand for connectivity between Vietnam and Sri Lanka. This route is also the latest addition to Vietnam Airlines' international network expansion plan.

Sri Lanka, an island nation known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean", is famous for its tropical beaches, tea plantations, cultural heritage, and natural landscapes. The direct flights offer Vietnamese travelers more convenient access to this destination, eliminating the need for layovers.
Conversely, Sri Lankan travelers will have more opportunities to explore Vietnamese destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Ha Long. From Ho Chi Minh City, passengers can also connect to many of the airline's destinations across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
