At the dinner held at the Presidential Palace tonight, Governor-General Mostyn said the blue ao dai she was wearing was a gift from Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam, according to the Australian Embassy in Hanoi.
This was the first time Governor-General Mostyn has worn the traditional Vietnamese garment. The ao dai was designed by Ambassador Tam’s wife, featuring the blue of the Australian flag and stars on the sleeves, as well as images of golden wattle, Australia's national flower.
