Thai army spokesperson Winthai Suvaree announced today that the commander of Thailand's 2nd Army Region met with the deputy commander of Cambodia's 4th Army Region in the Chong Chom area. They agreed on seven measures to implement the ceasefire between the two countries. This border region saw the most intense fighting during the five days of conflict.
The agreed-upon measures include an immediate ceasefire, prohibiting firing on civilians, halting all troop reinforcements, forbidding the movement of soldiers to different positions, facilitating the return of bodies and wounded soldiers, establishing a four-person coordination team from each side to resolve any arising incidents, and awaiting further instructions from the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on 4/8.
General Winthai added that similar meetings took place between commanders of Thailand's 2nd and 1st Army Regions with their counterparts from Cambodia's 3rd and 5th Army Regions. All parties agreed to the seven measures to implement the ceasefire.

Cambodia's Fresh News, citing government sources, reported that the commander of Cambodia's 4th Army Region, Pov Heng, and the commander of Thailand's 2nd Army Region, Boonsin Padklang, concluded their meeting at the O Smach international border crossing this afternoon.
The two sides agreed on three points: maintaining the agreed-upon ceasefire, increasing communication, and jointly resolving any incidents through a four-person team from each side.
Lim Menghour, head of the Cambodian National Assembly's Commission on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, later confirmed to Reuters that both armies also agreed not to deploy troops along the disputed border.
He suggested that the ceasefire requires international observers. "That would be key to monitoring all the terms agreed upon in yesterday's meeting," the Cambodian official said.
Fighting between Cambodia and Thailand erupted near the Ta Moan Thom temple on the morning of 24/7 and later spread to other areas along the border. This was the most serious clash between the two neighbors in over 10 years, resulting in a total of 38 deaths, including 25 in Thailand and 13 in Cambodia.
Cambodia and Thailand reached an immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement on 28/7, following talks in Malaysia mediated by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The Thai military accused Cambodia of firing shots at several points along the border early this morning, violating the ceasefire. Phnom Penh denied the accusations, stating that the situation "has calmed down" since the ceasefire took effect.
Acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said he had sent complaints to Malaysia, the US, and China regarding the violations, but also considered them minor incidents and that the border situation has generally "stabilized".
