China will mobilize tens of thousands of personnel, hundreds of aircraft and vehicles, including fighter jets and strategic bombers, for a parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan, defense officials announced at a press conference on 20/8. The parade is scheduled for 3/9 in Beijing.
The Chinese military will showcase various military assets at the event, including hypersonic weapons, trucks equipped with anti-drone systems, next-generation tanks, and early warning aircraft for carrier strike groups.

"The military weapons and equipment will fully demonstrate the Chinese military's capabilities in adapting to technological advancements, evolving combat models, and winning future conflicts," said Major General Wu Qian, deputy head of the parade organizing committee.
New weaponry will comprise a significant portion of the equipment in the parade, according to Chinese officials. China has not disclosed the exact number of soldiers, weapons, and equipment involved. In the 2015 parade, over 12,000 soldiers from China and other countries marched through Tiananmen Square.

The 70-minute parade on 3/9 will feature 45 formations. Chinese President Xi Jinping will observe the event at Tiananmen Square along with several foreign leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Beijing authorities tightened security in the city center earlier this month as initial rehearsals began.
