Many Cambodian leaders, including Prime Minister Hun Manet and Senate President Hun Sen, welcomed King Norodom Sihamoni at the airport today. A video posted by Hun Sen on Facebook showed King Sihamoni walking normally with a cheerful expression, indicating stable health.
The Cambodian royal family stated earlier this week that King Sihamoni's health was "gradually improving" after more than three months of treatment in China. Upon returning home, the King will continue regular health check-ups as recommended by the Chinese medical team, Cambodian media reported.

In April, doctors at a Beijing hospital diagnosed King Sihamoni with prostate cancer, and he underwent surgery there. A renowned team of medical experts in Beijing treated the King.
The King of Cambodia, born in 1953, is the son of former King Norodom Sihanouk and Queen Mother Monineath. The name Sihamoni combines the first two syllables of his parents' names.

Sihamoni spent many years studying abroad and pursued film studies in North Korea in 1975. He served as Cambodia's ambassador to the United Nations in the early 1990s before moving to Paris to become Cambodia's permanent representative to UNESCO.
He returned to Phnom Penh in 2004 to ascend the throne after his father, King Sihanouk, abdicated. Sihanouk had also suffered from cancer and other illnesses, receiving treatment in Beijing.
