A fire erupted on the Singapore-registered cargo ship Mandy at 7:35 PM on 17/2, off the coast of China, according to an announcement from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The blaze originated in the vessel's engine room and was later contained and extinguished by the crew.

At the time of the incident, the ship carried 25 crew members, all Myanmar nationals. Two fatalities were reported, and one person was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
The MPA reported no pollution in the aftermath of the fire. The cause of the incident is under investigation. The Mandy is scheduled to be towed to Yantai port in Shandong province, China.
The MPA extended its condolences to the victims' families and is coordinating with the ship's management company and Chinese authorities to provide support.
