Troops, artillery, specialized vehicles, and fighter jets practiced under the lights in the 440,000 m2 square, measuring 880 meters long and 500 meters wide. The number of participants in the rehearsal has not been disclosed.
This was the third rehearsal and the final one before the parade on September 3rd. The rehearsal aimed to test the coordination of the parade formations.
Previously, around 22,000 people participated in the first rehearsal from the night of 9/8 to the early morning of 10/8, and around 40,000 people participated in the second rehearsal from the afternoon of 16/8 to the early morning of 17/8.
The September 3rd parade in Beijing is expected to last 70 minutes and feature 45 formations. Chinese President Xi Jinping will observe the event in Tiananmen Square along with several foreign leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Chinese military will showcase various types of equipment at the event, including hypersonic weapons, trucks with drone interception systems, new-generation tanks, and early warning aircraft for carrier strike groups.
"All weapons and equipment in this parade are selected from domestically produced systems currently in service, and most are appearing for the first time," Wu Zeke, deputy commander of the parade, said today.
