Ying Weimin, a police officer in the Haishu district of Ningbo city, Zhejiang province, rose to fame after a video of her firearms training was shared on social media in mid-August. The video shows Ying calmly assembling a weapon, drawing, loading, aiming, and firing.
The target showed that all of Ying's shots hit the 10-ring, tightly grouped together. "Her movements are as smooth as flowing water and drifting clouds," one online commenter remarked.
"The more I watch, the more impressed I am. I've watched it dozens of times and I'm not bored," another expressed.
Ying has aspired to be a police officer since childhood. She was accepted into the Zhejiang Police College in 2017, majoring in command and tactics. After graduating in 2021, Ying joined the criminal investigation team, honing her skills in investigation, apprehension, and case handling.
She has demonstrated her abilities in several major cases, such as subduing a suspect and preserving computer evidence in a cross-border e-commerce case in 3/2023. A year later, she and her colleagues cracked a series of thefts, arresting the entire criminal gang and recovering tens of thousands of Chinese yuan.
In 10/2024, drawing on her experience investigating fraud cases, she contributed to a script and starred in a series of short films to raise public awareness about fraud prevention.
"The anti-fraud knowledge stuck with me easily," one viewer commented after watching Officer Ying's videos.
Ying says she is currently single, despite her family's urging. She is focused on her career, only taking one day off per week to spend at home.
"I'm grateful for the public's and netizens' attention and support. It motivates me to maintain my passion, work diligently, and perform my duties even better," she said.
