A nation that has risen after many struggles and now inspires the world with its sustainable development,".
In his post, President Diaz-Canel shared a post from Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressing his deep appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of the Vietnamese people in the support campaign recently launched by the Vietnam Red Cross.

The Vietnam Red Cross launched the 65-day "65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship" campaign, running from 13/8 to 16/10. The program aims to mobilize resources to support medical supplies, essential goods, and sustainable development activities, helping the Cuban people overcome difficulties caused by disease, natural disasters, and the embargo.
As of 6 PM on 16/8, the program recorded 1.375 million donations totaling 271.9 billion VND, far exceeding the minimum target of 65 billion VND.
Vietnam and Cuba established diplomatic relations on 2/12/1960. Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to formally establish relations with Vietnam. Over the past 65 years, the two countries have stood side by side, from the years of struggle for independence and national reunification to the cause of building and defending their socialist nations.
This special relationship is nurtured on the foundation of solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and mutual trust between the parties, states, and peoples of the two countries. This is not only a spiritual foundation but also a source of practical support for the revolutionary cause of each side.
One of the hallmarks of the bilateral relationship was the visit of the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro to the liberated zone of Quang Tri in mid-9/1973. At Hill 241, amidst the smoke of bombs, he declared, "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood,".
