Crown Prince Christian was born on 15/10/2005 and made his first public appearance on 18/10, when his parents carried him from the hospital to Fredensborg Palace. Christian’s birth occurred over one year after Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary married in copenhagen.
Christian's first official activity took place in 2008, at age three. He joined his grandfather at the copenhagen zoo to open a new elephant enclosure. Another royal milestone for Christian occurred in 2012, when he attended an event at Amalienborg Palace with Queen Margrethe II.

On 14/1/2024, Christian became first in line to the throne when his father ascended, becoming King Frederik X. Weeks earlier, his grandmother, Queen Margrethe II, announced her abdication. Christian has three younger siblings: Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine.
Queen Margrethe II reigned for 52 years, providing Crown Prince Christian many opportunities to observe her royal duties. Even before his grandmother’s abdication, Christian received the authority to serve as regent when necessary.
Before his 21st birthday, the crown prince lived with his parents. He now has his own apartment within the Amalienborg Palace complex in copenhagen, adjacent to Frederik VIII's residence, the home of the King and Queen.
