Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched over 600 missiles and UAVs targeting 13 locations during the night of 27/8, resulting in at least 15 deaths in Kyiv. European Council President Antonio Costa confirmed that the attack damaged an EU building. The EU ambassador to Kyiv shared an image of an office with blown-out windows and debris scattered across the floor.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the incident as evidence of Russia's determination to exert pressure on Ukraine. According to von der Leyen, Brussels must maintain "maximum pressure" on Moscow through sanctions and continued support for Kyiv.
