General Secretary and President To Lam conducted official visits to Thailand, a state visit to Singapore, delivered a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, and a state visit to the Philippines from May 27 to June 1. This marked the General Secretary and President's first visit to ASEAN countries in his new capacity.
"The visit conveyed Vietnam's development message to key partners in the region, clearly demonstrating Vietnam's mindset, needs, and development orientation in the new period," Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung stated on June 1, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Vietnam reaffirmed its consistent policy of valuing relations with neighboring countries and ASEAN. The nation demonstrated an active and responsible role in working with ASEAN to strengthen unity, enhance ASEAN's centrality, and maintain peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.
"The message of peace was conveyed in the General Secretary and President's keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue," Minister Le Hoai Trung said.
The Shangri-La Dialogue is a leading and influential international security and defense forum in the Asia-Pacific region, attended by approximately 500 delegates from over 40 countries.
The General Secretary and President's keynote speech on international and regional peace and security at the event was a highlight. It clearly expressed the Party and the State's views on the current global situation, the challenges, and important recommendations and proposals, according to Trung.
"The speech garnered significant interest and positive feedback from both domestic and international audiences, demonstrating Vietnam's role as a responsible member and a credible voice on regional and global peace, security, and development issues."

Minister Le Hoai Trung added that the General Secretary and President's visit also helped consolidate political trust between Vietnam and the three Southeast Asian nations. Vietnam promoted substantive cooperation in its comprehensive strategic partnership with Thailand, elevated strategic cooperation with Singapore through a strategic dialogue mechanism between the two ruling parties, and upgraded relations with the Philippines to an enhanced strategic partnership.
Another notable outcome was the strengthened connections between Vietnamese committees, ministries, agencies, localities, and businesses with their counterparts in the three Southeast Asian countries.
The Vietnam-Thailand Business Forum was attended by the Thai Prime Minister and nearly 700 businesses from both countries, including 550 Thai enterprises. The TechConnect Technology Connection Forum in Singapore saw the participation of 500 representatives from government, businesses, and researchers from both nations.
Vietnam signed 20 cooperation and business documents across many sectors in Thailand, 31 documents in Singapore, and nearly 20 documents in the Philippines, showcasing the potential for cooperation among the parties.
The parties also agreed to expand cooperation in new areas such as: artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, digital economy, green economy, energy transition, and e-government development.
"The visit was a resounding success, achieving many important results," Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed. "The visit also clearly demonstrated Vietnam's enhanced position and role on the international stage, contributing proactively and positively to resolving common international issues."

Beyond elevating Vietnam's relationships with the three ASEAN nations, the visit also laid important foundations and set directions for promoting deeper, more substantive relations with partner countries in the coming period.
"With the results and agreements achieved, the visit opens up significant opportunities to leverage international cooperation, experience, and resources, particularly from Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines, to further enable the achievement of strategic goals by 2030 and 2045, and to implement the country's socio-economic development plan until 2030," the Foreign Minister stated.
